Short but sick, MORTIFY start somewhere in Concepción, Biobío and get handed to the dark soul of horror with their first debut demo release, "Sadistic Carnage" back in 2013 and two years gone and rotting on their own chamber of death, the band managed to released the "Cryptic" EP on 2015 which I believe the continuing for the new stuff that coming from the bands on 2017.

"Mortuary Remains" is quite example and proof what the real old of Death Metal taste, from the riffs, drum beat, song composing/structure, slicing vocal style and the filthy old school production on the album. It's just pure

classic formula been used again and been added on with mellow solo guitar-work that work perfectly on the album. I'm really enjoy how Cristian Fuentes cut his throat to sang on the album and his voices totally sick from track by track and make me believed the voice are coming from filthy hell! Another things that I dig from MORTIFY "Mortuary Remains" album is the horror melody that embalmed from the tracks, it's fvcking real horror that can be inspired someone to robbing the grave! The mix of mid-tempo and slow to the fvcking death metal styles are the real ingredients on "Mortuary Remains" album and it's so difficult for me to choose my favourites tracks from the albums seem every song have their own horror presentation and feel.

We near to end rotting completed in 2017, and a lot of sick stuff still haunted me down on this last few months and there's always something will blew my mind when it's comes to wrote about Old School Death Metal release. It's no matter if the band are doing something similar and just recycles the path again or even digging up yours old memories from the past as long it's quite interesting and worship the real tunes of death. And, I'm still saving my deadbrains for something more dark, ugly and filthy of Death Metal. The graveyard of dead that fulfilled with flesh-eaten rotting zombie!

PUTRID TORSO, definitely a braindead idea coming from Thomas Prasser. Thomas Prasser always wanting to delivered more rotten, sick and heavy stuff of old Death Metal. If we walked under the gloomy-unlights before, we can see Thomas Prasser work with several Black/Death band or project such like Goatthroat, Heretic Deathcult, Obscurys, Ruins of Unlight and Old Skull. And with PUTRID TORSO back from the long dead rotting hiatus right now, let's seek for more rotting old death stuff in the future from him. There are some familiar name beyond the creation of "Grave Desecrating Ritual" Album, some of them are Rogga Johansson from Paganizer etc that put his effort beyond the vocal section, Jan Psyander Withney / JDW-DEATH My Only Friends and Marc / Artwars mediadesign that make the CD booklet look horrifying and terrifying sick enough with killer arts and layout to my eyes and just look how thick the CD booklet make me smile how importance this first releases of PUTRID TORSO to them. 

PUTRID TORSO "Grave Desecrating Ritual" Album was for sure another most expected old school death stuff that coming out in 2017. With 8 tracks of ugly death tunes alongside the horror sample intro that may sounded someone digging the old graves and collected the dead body. It's quite interesting how the intro from this album slowly make my mood increased to death and need more dose of horror and thrill-suspense melo-touch. The first song is just killer, "The Ghoul Of Graveyards" with rotting and crunchy riff's barely open my head straightly with some old flavor from Swedish Death before "A Morbid Rising" show more aggression towards the song decompose and structure. The first-two tracks from this album show same death metal groovy-laden touch but in different kind of fast and slow atmosphere and also the guitar tones from Thomas Prasser that sounded fat and disgusting enough and Lille beyond the dead-beat drumming just show how excellent this two guy work together for this album. I've much enjoy the opening riff's in "A Crypt To Keep" and a screaming effort from Rogga in the early of "Towards The Cemetary" song, it's totally fvcking creepy-monster voices. As the CD still spinning off on my player, I spotted some interesting quite changing paced between "The Boneless Crawlers" and

"Collector of Zombies" song. The paced approach becoming more disgusting and filthy heavy which I think came with horror melodies and lyrics and suddenly swirling my head to the wall, it's a friendly-headbanger song and the feels from this tracks totally fvcking awesome! And the combination between Thomas, Lille and Rogga probably hit the high pitch on the last song from this album, "Midnight Mousoleum". It's quite grotesque-heavy than the previous song and get all the lost rotting component rejoin and mixed well together on the final runs of  "Grave Desecrating Ritual" Album. 

It's quite interesting when came to pick my favorites tracks from "Grave Desecrating Ritual" Album seem I'm really enjoy all the sick and heavy tunes from this album. With uglier and stinky of old sound production but in very advanced way, the album just showed how old death metal formation works with simple straight forward structure and lyrics, and with brilliant guitar work by Thomas, the sound of ripping snare beyond Lille drum-seat and deep monster howling from Rogga the album just cherish the zombie ritual ceremony. Also, the rotting credits must goes to Tribulacion Production and Epidemia Records for putting this excellent work by PUTRID TORSO in very awesome CD publication. It's a recommend(a)d stuff ?? Yes for sure! and for those dwell the horror and ugly feel of Old School Death Metal, PUTRID TORSO another band you shouldn't miss.

Critical Madness : PATHOGEN "Ashes of Eternity" Full length / Tape

I'm still dig their old release like "Lust of Evil" demo and their debut full album "Blasphemous Communion" year after year and the San Pablo morbid death by metal is back with the new macabre threat and necro-crematory vision. "Ashes of Eternity" album are the new consecrated vomit after the reborn of "Forged in the Crucible of Death" album back in 2012. 

The tape version in my hand right now was unleash by our local label records here, HELLFIRE RECORDS. And of corpse, we already know what PATHOGEN will de-butchered like before! Almost 47 + + minutes of morbid and obscure atmosphere has cherish and vomiting into the death-ground, and a lot of slicing ripping-riff's and re-join by the mid/slow-beat paced to mixed up the creation of "Ashes of Eternity" album. How Willie Desamero growled the carcass voices out from his throat, and how Vic Jarlego blast the snare and put his effort behind his disgusting drum set and the purulent-sound that coming from Jervish Alcos guitar's and Nino Jerome Aranza bass definitely will crack up your dead-brains and the stink smell of death really smelling bad through your journey into the creation "Ashes of Eternity"!

The morbid darkness atmosphere on ""Ashes of Eternity" " album will take you into another dimension of hell, pure evil! and sometimes some track like "Crematorial Destiny" that started with a doom touch / tempo, crunchy-fat tones and dirty skansk D-beat flavor will revel your flesh and the top heavy-notch that coming from the build-up riffing reconjuring the track in very difference way of old death! Just loved the tracks! The final result that coming from "Ashes of Eternity" album will be and turn into the one of the best PATHOGEN release in my side.

Retribution for the Dead : Into the incorporeal autopsy of "Nameless Hideous Manifestations"

It's always become a great result when you try yours best to look into the otherside of this rotting-earth and try searching another DM bands paying a homage to old Dodsmetall tunes. Sometimes, there will be a huge and thick concrete walls will stand there and blocked yours way into the horror beyond of death-path, and you'll break it's using your own fist just to make your own way into this path. 

Chile! A country that never disappointed me when came to terms of DM in raw-rotting tunes and style, a doses of morbidity and putrid disease mangle around this places and few bands arise from here before already put their own tombstone in the real stinky of DM cemeteries around the maps. And, the keeper of horror-gates will keep the atmosphere more obscure and darkest as always, and thousand of rotten-maggot craving and crawled on the rotting corpses!

For the second "death" here after the re-awakening of "Revelations" EP and the horrorcraft tales that SOULROT created back in 2014 with their raw-crushing debut demo "Horrors From Beyond" finally reach the high volume on almost thirty-three minutes on "Nameless Hideous Manifestations" albums, and I'll say this is a long-awaits for all HM-2 chainsaw and Swedish Death Metal sound worshipper been waiting on this years. No compromise! This is Old Dodsmetall crawling and nailing deepest from the rotting grave! UGH!

The incorporeal autopsy of "Nameless Hideous Manifestations" opened by a gloomy melo-death and fill up with a "death-breath" voices on the opening tracks, and you guess it's only stand for few seconds before the chainsaw sound of BOSS HM-2 burst into the atmosphere on the albums and before J.L Olmos slicing the riff's on "Those Who Dwell in the Abyss". It's nicely opens up the dirty putrid and stench feeling towards the albums and beyond the strongest and most solid sound production, and it's also the death-reason I think why Memento Mori one of the killer records label stand strong for a years by years, it's a good choice of releases by the label records, from the bands into the albums! And also must be includes, everything looking rotting good from the fronts arts, the colour tones what Juanjo Castellano pick for the albums totally suits and compact with the bands!

There are thousand doses of stunning rotting riff's can be founded on their songs, the prelude of the old vibe of Carcass / Entombed / Autopsy / Dismember on the song can't be deny, all the influenced from the old days disembowel and been grinding into their own coffins-creatures and styles. And a big credits to drum beat attack and the no mercy grunted-growl voices. All the mix become one great turning points for the whole albums, sometimes the fast-grinding tempo that their created make me can't catch their runs, and it's like I was left behind in the darkest streets and eating by the ghouls :) 

The "Nameless Hideous Manifestation" totally a perfect examples how the Old Dodsmetall works and sounde(d)d to be. It's also featuring the old primitives vibe from early tunes of Swedish DM in most heavy , crushing , and rottings producing, and what the albums make a stunning preference is how their develop the music and song together in left-hand-path of DM. The look how their created of song, build the stenching-melodies came in one packages, it's not to complicated song decomposing seem all the catchy, groovenous, fast grinding are blend in a good ways and it's more stinky and ugly always! SOULROT, probably another great DM bands arise and successful throwing the debut full-length albums for this years. And "Nameless Hideous Manifestation" make the listener rewind the old feels from the 90's Swedish Death Metal glorious era and crossed the lightning skies with their complete and decomposing tunes in perfectly ways of Death Metal!

And, you should know what Death Metal albums should go on the list for the "Best Of Death Metal albums" in 2017 ?

Critical Madness : Undergang "Doden laeger alle sar" Full album / CD

I dont know, how much I loved this band since the debut album of "Indhentet af doden". Undergang always stick with their own roots and believed the old formation of death. You know some band when their already releasing their debut album, their probably dont take any chance to go beyond when their started. The formation of stuff release like Demo-Album-Album-Split is casual for me but Undergang totally breakout from this formation and you can see after their releasing their debut album back in 2009, Undergang releasing a demo or we can called it promo, "T.D.O.S" 2011 and another one "Kogt i blod" 2014 after the departure of 2nd album, "Till Doden Os Skiller". So I believed Undergang have their own style and dont follow the trends of living dead releases.

Lets enter the new and third album from this rotten and filthy death by metal from Denmark. Death Metal without solo guitar and fill up with killer high-climex riff guitar and simply drum beat actually very unique and killer actually in my point of view. Example the first track from this album and rotten credits goes to Eric Cutler with his solo guitar on the ending tracks from this album. For me, I believe Death Metal is a tunes that we playing over and over again, so here, no more issue about who copies who since all the classick-killer riff or song structure already wrote and compose since the early days when terms of Death Metal came out from the grave. We only change its a little bit or recycle with our own styles and if you ask David Blomqvist from Dismember, his probably say that the "bible" Dismember use over and over is from the mighty Autopsy! Listening to second tracks from this album, I can feel the riff guitar from 'Dying Moment" Silent Death. One thing we cant change when listening to Undergang, is the lyrics fully written on their mother of tongue language. I dont understand actually what their singing but fuck yeah Metal music is very unique!  Regarding to sickos rotten sound, the cover arts from this album also look very sick done by D. Torturdod ( v + g ). If you the fans of doomier to the death tunes and who loved skansk beat and probably one of Autopsy fans that waiting for their new releases from Chris Reifert and co, dont take a long times to grab this death by metal master-piece from Dark Descent Recs. One of my favourite release in 2015 on CD. Till doden os skiller!!
