RAW! CRUSH!! FLUSH!!!

Something unpleasant-smell of decompositions gasping towards into our air, LAVATORY is one of those recent death metal bands crawled from Malaysian-devastasting local death-scene with olden sound of Swedish Death Metal. The stench-mix between death metal and punk make it's more ugly and filthy enough! LAVATORY has been strong festering towards the death since their debut release, "Transgression" EP, back in 2012. The bands try to not make it's like other typical - Malaysian death metal back then, when most of them still trap and buried with their old memories from the glorious era. I got the opportunity to talk with the band frontman, MKD and talk something what the band reeked for in this recent years. Enjoy and keep you toilet's remain dirty and stink!

+ + +

MIKA ROTTEN - First of all, thanks for your times to replying this interview, and welcome to the ugly side of DISCARNAGE. How life goes rotten so far this years?
MKD - We are thrilled to have the opportunity to answer the DISCARNAGE interviews.Life is getting ROT day by days.At this time and now the world is on covid-19 outbreak. Hope that all will end well and the struggle must continue. TO THE DEATH!!

MIKA ROTTEN - LAVATORY was arise and crawling some years ago. Without any tricky or fvcking trendy step, I guess the band has gotten followed by many Svenska Dodsmetall worshipper around the DM-Underground scene. Firstly, can you dismembered some fairy tales about the creation of LAVATORY for us.
MKD - Good question. At that time we didn't think about trends we were following. We just create our own style of death metal with little bit mix with black metal and punk elements  which is each of us has different kind of interest and music hearing. But what we can share here is we're the only band play different than the other bands we have in Malaysia back then. That's great if we been followed by many (it would be awesome!!) svenska dodsmetall worshipper. Maybe because of the HM-2 pedal we use makes the listener been possessed!! Most our influences back then from U.S and European bands like Asphyx, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Dismember, Entombed, Necrovorous, Crematory etc

MIKA ROTTEN - To get a strongest connections and dwell the “sunlight” together into the ground, and to build a sick formations between a members lineup look not easy after all. We all might know, some of us (especially Malaysian Deadhead) don’t much possessed by the terms of Swedish Death Metal. But we still lucky enough to have a band that pay a homage to this music, band like LAVATORY and DEATHEVOKER already in there. Salute and respect!
MKD - Damn,you're correct man! It's not easy at the first place (until now HA HA!) Actually in my opinion I don't care much about IF deadhead in here doesn't like what LAVATORY try to deliver. It might take some time for them to like it. We can't force them to hear (but we can suggest) The most important thing is our passion and interest in this death metal music, our own style and sound especially. We want to show to the world out there that we also can be the best (at least). Nothing is impossible and no one can stop us!! Hail to DEATHEVOKER and REPUTDEATH!! they're really good mates. SALUTE!

MIKA ROTTEN - I’m still wonder, if a band like FATALIST didn’t start to re-open back the terms of “Old School Swedish Death Metal” or maybe REPUGNANT with “Retro-Death” style few years ago, maybe some of us still trap and drown into nowhere. It’s good to remembering the past, but life goes rot man! Any unreal motivation or maybe a thing that push you back then to keep this music as the band music direction.
MKD - Both bands are great if we're talk about past. They have their own style and touch. Our motivation was to bring two listeners together between punks and metal.(It would be great to see them on the floor of death sharing the same sweats) We love to see that someday. Our tendency is more towards D-beat/death metal but in here the terms are still slow for the listener to accept. Maybe at that time they were still unfamiliar with it. Give them time to explore and we hope they're more open minded in the future.

MIKA ROTTEN - I’m still remember when I hold my copy of “Transgression” EP tape back then. I can’t stop myself to say “..this band totally fvcking awesome! and they will kicking all the creepy bastard outhere!”  In general, I could see the path what LAVATORY try to create with this outstanding release.  Did you still remember how was the first session of “Transgression” recording look like?
MKD - Big cheers for the compliment and highly appreciated! Damn, back to 2011 we really want the difference in sound and music structure. The recording was very exciting and we were very pleased with what we had (not many ppl used to hear). At that time, the death metal/punk spirit in our young soul was so strong to produce something new especially the EP for the first time. Unforgettable!

MIKA ROTTEN - Slaughterhouse Records was handling the CD version and Morbid Invasion Rex / Vomit Blood & Virgil Studio on cassette format for “Transgression” EP back then. Beside of this label that release your debut records back then, did you have approach any other label? How you see this label carry out this release?
MKD - At first we released the cassette format 'Transgression' back to 2011.MKD part of the partnership between Morbid Invasion Rex and Vigil studio. So you'll know who Vomit Blood is. We do approach and gave some of the established local label to hear at the first place but seems like our style of death metal didn't caught their attention. After that the label called 'Sickchainsaw' from Thailand interested with the EP .Due to some circumstances we never close the deals. (Hope in the future we can work something out again). We get the deals with Slaughterhouse Recs (U.S) after a suggestion from our sweet friend Jill (Razorback Recs)  back then. Without her we don't been recognized and been reviewed on Terrorizer Mags #229 .Slaughterhouse Recs done really great job to spread especially in U.S and worldwide.Jr.Torina and his label started to breathe again after long hiatus. We really appreciated his effort!Since then you can see many great bands like Savage Deity, Nonserviam, Succubus, etc get a good deal from the label who's release our first EP on CD format.

MIKA ROTTEN - Simple question and might be little dragging ya, are you satisfied with the final result on “Transgression” EP? Give me just three words about this release!
MKD - We satisfied and it will be remain dirty as his name. RAW!! CRUSH & FLUSH!!

MIKA ROTTEN - I guess it’s not to late for me to say, a big congrats to your deal between Pulverised Records and LAVATORY. It’s such a great achievement for the bands, to release a album under this rotten label. How the real stories begun?
MKD - Thanks man! Coincidentally our friend Nicholas (Necrolatry Recs) was in Singapore. Roy from Pulverised Recs asked about LAVATORY and got interested after hearing our song on YouTube and  we were talk via email and get the deal making an album(What  a moment). From there the stories begin..

MIKA ROTTEN - 2 years after the birth of “Transgression” EP might be a long gloomy corridor that we need to past by before the band first full-length out. With more mid-paced reeking, slicing throat-punk vocals style, guitar solo that embark the atmosphere from the song, heavy-buzz guitar tones it’s make its more dirty and ugly special on “Morbid Terror” album! I think the time your take and your work to make this album finally been repay in the end. “Morbid Terror” album get very positive response since it’s come out till today.
MKD - What a glorious year we can said during the 'Transgression' time. Great moments and a lot of joys with the old mates. The experience of the 'Morbid Terror'is really adventurous for us. Some more the formation change for LAVATORY during that time. We try something groovy on that album (not much just little bit HA HA!) We feel satisfied with our work and no regret. Yes, the album get very positive response especially outside Malaysia. Even it's not the best for some people but it's still good for some pure death metal worshipper who really know how to appreciate the efforts, ideas, sounds and the music it self. (Salute to you!!) So take your time and don't forget to raise your volume to 666 if you have the album. Cheers!

MIKA ROTTEN - I guess the formation of the band also got changes after “Morbid Terror” album come out. Any stories about the formation changes?  Can you share to us your current band members, and if you don’t mind maybe a little story about their musical background look like.
MKD - Owh yea, I give you short stories here.. It's because of life, health and financial.Wish all the best to an ex-member who has a happy life. All the wonderful memories together will always be remembered. Without you guys LAVATORY are nothing.

Current members are
Andy - guitar
Zakk - bass
Nuex - guitar
MIE - drums
MKD - vox

Andy - still active play with the GORESLUTS
ZAKK - still active play with KOFFIN KANSER, BLIND TRIBE, ELECTRIC FUNERAL, THE GARRISON etc
Nuex - grindcore forever with COMPULSION TO KILL
MIE - drummer for DUNCAN DUKUN
MKD - currently active with BLACK WINGS OF VENGEANCE

MIKA ROTTEN - We might rotting in the end of this interview, few more question before we’re out. Can we hear something new ( album? ) from the band soon? I guess you’re been working on it’s.
MKD - Owh yea, we plan to release a 2nd album this year after 6 years disappearance (no new material) and now we rise under the label called Legion Music from Malaysia. What we can share this time about this album it is more faster, dirty and melodic. Yep, we're working on it and doing our best for the listeners out there. Wait for it!!!!

MIKA ROTTEN - LAVATORY among other band that play with INCANTATION during their “Seige of the Profane” Asia tour back in 2018. How do see this big achievement impact on your “resume” in the future? Some memorable moments from the show that you might wanna share to us?
MKD - We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to share the stage with mighty Incantation in Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, Thailand. They're really cool guy, humble and friendly musicians. (Respect!) For us, it is all about passion. In return it's going to be worth. Trust me! The moments from the show when we come down from the stage straightaway they said our music sound like GATECREEPER.(cheers for that) We also sharing the same tour bus, having a food and beer at the back stage,The sleepiness moment while heading back to the airport.(Damn!! We need to awake at 5am!!) and also for sure we're grab a chance for the signature on T-shirt, poster and CDs. We're the fan boys remember! HA HA! Lot of fun!

MIKA ROTTEN - Currently, we’re hardly hit by the outbreaking of pandemic disease. It’s leave a fear to society all over the world. Without exception, in underground scenes too. Some tour and show has call up for postponed and cancellation. LAVATORY should be there, to opening for NUNSLAUGHTER show in Kuala Lumpur, but the show also got cancel due to the critical situation. How do see the impact of the disease give to all underground metal bands out there ? You might know, there a band that make living with music.
MKD - This pandemic disease make a big impact on everyone not even us. Yea, the show need to be canceled for safety and health reasons. We think that's the best way for NUNSLAGHTER, organizer and all the involved bands. It's really sad all these thing happen especially for the full time musicians, artist ,bands and more. Many gigs, concert and festival canceled due the pandemic outbreak. Worst year for everyone. Within this few months many underground metal bands struggling to do whatever the can because there is no platform (at this crisis time) to show their passion and love in metal music. We hope all these shit gone in real soon.A lot of planning become limited because of this. Last word from us.. Fuck corona!

MIKA ROTTEN - If you need to recommend to our readers or might your friends, what Malaysian local band they should check? By the way, your latest death metal demo playlist on your analog player? I know you’re demo-digger too. Ha!
MKD - Damn,check this old school black/death called TOMB. If you're into early 90's stuff.. It's worth to keep for your library of death!!Highly recommend! Currently, I listened to ULCEROT(Denmark),CORPSED (US) and BURIAL (Italy) Deaathhhhhh Metaaaaallll!!!

MIKA ROTTEN - Here we’re, in the end of this interview, actually I’ve plenty more question to ask you about the bands. I’ll get your back when the time is right. For now, thanks for the time and stay safe brother!
MKD - Thanks to you too. Anytime brother!! Hope we get more interviews from DISCARNAGE in the future. The spirit of DM underground never die! Wish all the best and good luck for your band too.WE SUPPORT REPUTDEATH!! Stay safe, fuck corona!

A foul-smell of (HM-2) from the rotting grave

Svensk Dödsmetall worshipper, GRAVEHAMMER released a two-track promo which reek through beyond your imaginations. It's burst with raw, rotting and filthy old school death metal tunes in more necrotic ways. Guitarist / Drummer, A.Deztruxtor fills us in this ugly pages about the band debut records, and other filthy subject about the band. For all HM-2 bones breaker, enjoy and stay safe!

                                                    + + + +

MIKA ROTTEN - Thanks for your times mates! Recently we' all facing difficult situation due to the outbreaking of pandemic disease, hope you doing good right there. By the way, how are you?
A. DEZTRUXTOR - Hellcome brother!! And greeting to all the readers.. i am Deztruxtor and Im doing fine but need to work as usual since im working in F&B industries.. urrgghhhh!! Due to the pandemic disease spread instantly the goverment have made the movement control order so we need to stay the fuck home and listen to record i guess and start record new song. I hope this issue will be going well soon.

MIKA ROTTEN - First of all, we've all know you have been there with Disobeyed. When the idea started to form GRAVEHAMMER.
A. DEZTRUXTOR - From the beginning since i am into the metal underground scene im really into this kind of OSDM genre. When im form DISOBEYED back in 2011 its between me and my brother Xahguld , we mix together Death metal and Black metal and there it goes.. yet we are currently still on progress recording for DISOBEYED new album coming soon under Evildead production. The idea Of GRAVEHAMMER came from my own self. Just need the most exact time for me to start the band. It takes several years . This idea started to be a 1 man band since i cant find any nearest comrade/lineup that really into this filthy musick . Finally i found Shyxxxul to join this band since he not in any other band. So we agreed to be the DUO CHAINSAW MASSACRE!!! At the moment we do not play in any LIVE show as what our main focus to record song and release. Then we try to find any label that will be interested. Depends on the situation maybe we will be playing LIVE show soon after we can get any lineup or session in the future.

MIKA ROTTEN - Congrats on the reborn (in blasphemy) of your Promo 2020! Can you tell us more about this two-track promo?
A. DEZTRUXTOR - Thanks by the way. Yes this two- track promo song that i put into this promo 2020 is to promote and as the introduction to our local scene. There is 4 track all together but i choose this two song as the gatecreeper for the beginning of this funeral.. At the first i only wanted to shared to all friends this two- track through the WhatsApp mobile application. But when im think twice this thing should be in physically material but in DIY way.. so i burn into CDR and print the cover with old skool punk method copy and paste. Total fucking underground way!!!

MIKA ROTTEN - "Promo 2020" by GRAVEHAMMER has all feel of classic Swedish Death Metal style, from lo-fi raw production, crushing "buzzsaw" riffs to obscure vocal style. How is the whole process going when you start recording this promo? Besides Swe-death influences, are there any other musical influences that give a (death)breath to GRAVEHAMMER music?
A. DEZTRUXTOR - We worship Swe-Death metal and we worship BOSS HM-2!!! I start record this two-track promo song since im started to learning recording process and program at my ancient cave Homestudio in my house. I record all the instrument by my own after i slept in the coffin for a day. Hahaha. Dismember , Entombed , Nirvana 2002 , Grotesque , repugnant , Necrocurse , Nifelheim , massacre , Deathevoker , Bastard Priest , Bastard Grave ,scalpture , Sadistic intent etc . This all band that i listen and many more to mention. Besides swe-death metal we are also influences by some old punk band like discharge, anti cimex.

MIKA ROTTEN - I really dig all kind of promo, demo, rehearsal stuff with lo-fi cave production. Listen to how "Behind the tomb" and "Miasmal of the dead" burst from my speaker, it's give me a signs that I shall listen to it's over and over again and with your promo it's proved that Death Metal should be play in more dirty and raw ways! How the process going behind the mixing and mastering process.
A. DEZTRUXTOR - As i mentioned this question above i record all the instrument all by my own self.. mixing and mastering all together at my homestudio called ZYKLON STUDIO base in Tawau sabah

                          + + + + +

MIKA ROTTEN - There always a connection between death, horror or gore theme and Death Metal music basically. How your lyrics approach into your music that you've create? Did you need something to inspire you when writing a lyrics?
A. DEZTRUXTOR - I wrote the lyric for miasma of the dead and its inspired from something that comes through my mind when im trying to find an idea by following the concept of GRAVEHAMMER . Behind the Tomb wrote by Mr.Chan sek weng and many songs to come will be write all by him. He agree to give 100% gravesupport to help me out with the lyrics. So i guess i can get less pressure and focus on composing Song & Riff.

MIKA ROTTEN - As a band that pay homage to Swedish Death Metal era, what you try looking for in your music?
A. DEZTRUXTOR - We try to make something different from the other band. I am really into something Necro oldskool death metal with obscure and burial enviroment. Grave digging and horrific , cult . satanism & ungodly supremacy.

MIKA ROTTEN - How has the response that you receive for your debut promo so far? How many copy this promo spread into our local-death?
A. DEZTRUXTOR - Of course i really amaze with the feedback from local scene maniac also from peninsula maniac . I never thought that this promo will have a big demand like this since first of all i just release by only 30 copies and need to repress another copy again. I have release this promo 150 copies to all over malaysia and this promo considered SOLDOUT. Btw thanks for the suppport.

MIKA ROTTEN - We guess the future for GRAVEHAMMER looks brights ya? what can we expect soon from the band?
A. DEZTRUXTOR - Currently we continue recording for New Ep that will be unleash under NECROLATRY RECORDS local label soon. We still didnt decide how many song will be in this Ep but we promise to give our best!!

MIKA ROTTEN - Any recommendation from your local death metal bands that you might need to tell to our readers and your thought about Malaysia undergound scene especially in Death Metal music.
A. DEZTRUXTOR - Yes!! We got a tons of great metal band here in malaysia. Deathevoker, Reputdeath ,lavatory , Braindead , Mortuary ancestor, Desultory, Disobeyed , desolate plague, any many more please go check em out!!

MIKA ROTTEN - Before we go, thanks for your times, good luck for GRAVEHAMMER and stay safe my friends!
A. DEZTRUXTOR - Same goes to you !!!! Spread the disease of death metal!!! Fuck Covid-19

                                                  + + + + + +

Robbing The Grave : When life has ceased and the manifestation of horror and death - PUTRID YELL interview

Somewhere on the otherside of rotting maps, there always a good Death Metal bands hailing deep from the rotting of the forgotten tombs. Basically from Chilean DM-underground scenes. Some of them are PUTRID YELL. 5 rotten-deadhead obsessed by the dark horror of Svenska Dodsmetall - buzzsaw tunes. "When Life Has Ceased" demo probably one of the best Death Metal demo you should have on your collection of death! The simply-forward song structure, buzzsaw downtuned, crunchy and heavy rotting riff's and the rawness of sound productions would take you back into the ancient times of Swedish Death Metal glorious era.

Last but not rotten least, the door of death is already opened and join me with Rod Nihilist rotting in horror-stinky graveyards!

MIKA ROTTEN - Greetings from Malaysia Rod, and Hails to Putrid Yell! So far how life goes ‘rot’ in the capital city of dead, Chile? If you don’t mind please share a little bit about your country.
ROD NIHILIST - Cheers, Mika! Thank you for your interest with the band. Here in Chile all is out of control. Corrupted politicians, social injustice, outrageous and ludicrous inequity, all this under an egregious capitalism. In a nutshell, all here is a shit. This country is becoming more rotten everyday, we are the worst USA’s experimentation

MIKA ROTTEN -
I might say, Chilean underground scene already takes the baton of death metal on this world. No doubt about its. Its good to see many “death metal bastard” coming out from different country. How about the scene there, still death metal music have their own follower or fans today?
ROD NIHILIST -
Yes, being honest I say the same that you said. Chilean Metal has been always controversial out of our country, specially with the Death Metal music. Examples from the past as Pentagram, Death Yell, Sadism, Atomic Aggressor, and from the present as Godless, Unausprechichen Kulten, Ancient Crypts, Ripper, etc, it’s awesome, so be it. Nowadays here is lived since some years a reborn of the Death Metal’s scene as powerful as in 80´s and 90’s, with a lot of bands coming from the capital and of course so strong in Chilean country parts, with a huge strength! Nationally the Thrash Metal and Black Thrash still are powerful subgenres, but internationally the Death Metal is being really yielding a lot of comments, as the national Heavy Metal.

MIKA ROTTEN - Lets digging some “horrorific-nihilism” moments when the bands reform back in 2011, how the bands started and please share to us why you’ll choose to play “death metal to the rot” in the veins of “old” Entombed? At least the sounds are really similar to this band for me.
ROD NIHILIST - The band began at late 2011 with a slow work, building concepts, and some demotapes of songs to see where we were going, but in 2012 we worked hard and released our first promo. The band emerged just for necessity of doing Death Metal as the classic ones, with a violent way, filthy, and with an old smell.  Where we live there were not almost no one Death Metal band, only Black Thrash, Thrash, Speed Metal, etc. So we were aiming do something different of what was done here. Always and even today is a difficult task, as not all understand how doing Death Metal, as is much different than the subgenres already mentioned. About the similarity with Entombed, I think that is because our sound is guided by the double pedal that I use (HM-2), but honestly I don’t feel a similarity with Entombed’s sound, and if it was like that, I will feel flattered. I feel that we can sound more similar as Dismember or God Macabre.

MIKA ROTTEN -
After rehearsal and find a good tunes for your debut releases, Putrid Yell successes to releasing the “PROMO MMXII” back in 2012. Its out in very limited copies of Cd-r, I thought its only printed on 50 copies only around this rotting globe. Correct me if im wrong about the info. How the underground scene especially on your place response about this debut releases?
ROD NIHILIST - To be honest, we released the promo because we are anxious. I edited 50 copies in a CD-R with photocopies and writing with a typewriter machine hahaha. Those copies were all  handed out and given away in an event in Santiago where were playing bands as Miserycore, Unholy Force, Necroripper, and Attacker Bloody Axe. I really do not know about the public’s answer for a so limited releasing. I only know that nowadays there are people who search anxiously for this tape, regardless the poor and mediocre sound hahaha. Some people like it, other don’t.

MIKA ROTTEN - Lets move to the influenced that bring Putrid Yell to the infront of the death. Do you still believed that Entombed are the godfather of Swedish death metal? And if we look today, many band start to pull their song with this little peal monster Boss HM-2. Do you believed this is kind of trends or the re-awakening of buzzsaw downtunes of Svenska Dodsmetall?
ROD NIHILIST - In my opinion, without a doubt they are the Sweden Death Metal’s fathers. Even though for a time MORBID can be “more fathers” than they, or think in NIHILIST as the same, inasmuch as they were previous. What you said about bands which begin using that already mentioned pedal is right, but here in Chile are only few bands that use it, at least the ones that I have understanding, counted by the fingers in my hand. As I told you, here our sound is not so demanded as out from here. Maybe is a tendency or maybe not, the truth is that this is not a topic that concern me. I am not interested in being authentic inside the universe where all is already created, I am purely interested in doing violent Death Metal, fast, and corrosive as in the old times.

MIKA ROTTEN - Seem Putrid Yell into “death, gore, murder, horror and nihilism” lyrical theme. What the major influenced or idea when your writing and composing the song from Putrid Yell? It’s a easy deal with this kind of thing for you?
ROD NIHILIST - Honestly, the thing is that in the beginning the biggest influence en the lyrics were old horror films, or horror literature. To us were easy as we took stories or films that to us were great, and we developed lyrics, but nowadays we are changing a little bit the direction about this. Might as a matter of time we will end doing social criticism as Napalm Death, or writing about science fiction, who knows?

MIKA ROTTEN - Your second demo coming out back in 2013 under Ad Baculum recs. “WHEN LIFE HAS CHEASED”, the demo titles look similar to Nihilist’s song from Drowned demo season. I give you pleasure of times to share something when the demo recordead and please sharing to the readers how this demo goes by that times?
ROD NIHILIST - I want to clarify that “When life has ceased” is officially our first demo. The promo is only this, a promo. Yes, the title is a way of honouring the old ones, from the aesthetic of the demo up to the sound. The demo was hard to release, it were months  with problems in recording, bur finally it was released. As it took a long time, it generated great expectations. When it was released we ran out of copies in only 3 weeks or a month maximum, later on we didn’t have more copies. I remember of an event where our bass player started selling the demo tape and a huge queue was formed only to buy the cassette hahaha. I think the demo had a great circulation here in Chile, as the copies were just a few,  since today there are people searching for copies. For this reason we contacted Pech from Unholy Domain for being reediting the demo and do an European distribution of it, because for us was a really important point to put our marksmanship to other countries and this had a result, thanks to Pech’s distribution our demo sounded in lots of underground radios in whole Europe. And also some fanzines knew about us and this is his responsibility. A great cheers for him and we are UTTERLY grateful for all!

MIKA ROTTEN - I don’t get any chance to get this release thru Ad Baculum rec, but big hugs to Pech from Unholy Domain recs because sending me this demos. Yeah, it’s the re-press version of your 2nd demo from this Italian label. Better late than rot never, Rod! So, what do you think about this label and whats death-dealer goes from this label to releasing back your
second demo?
ROD NIHILIST - As I already mentioned, to me UNHOLY DOMAIN is one of the bests labels that we have seen. They did great efforts as distributing the material that they edit has a great quality and furthermore Pech understand is a guy with a great understanding in the Death Metal music. I recommend eternally to support this label and its great labor to keep the flame of the old Death Metal and keep editing old bands and new bands of the veritable Death Metal.

MIKA ROTTEN - “WHEN LIFE HAS CHEASED”, got a good reviews when its out from the grave. Raw and directly simply forward death metal tunes with catchy and heavy songs. Its also got credits from Voices From The Darkside. Its look the bands don’t look back anymore and keep the ‘flag of death’ rise and keep a rise! I think its give the world DM-underground scenes alert that Chile already have their own ‘Carnage/Entombed” bastard. Do you satisfied the final result from this demo?
ROD NIHILIST - Thank you for your words! Things like this motivate us to continue advancing and know that the band is appreciated outside our country. And being honest about Voices From the Dark Side: we are impressed! It was a big surprise know that they like the demo. Personally, I am satisfied with the result, and I would like if I could develop better in the voices, as I had to took this area in an utter hurry as our first vocalist left us and we had to continue. Some guys of the band are not satisfied with the result, but the truth is that to me is good as hell.

MIKA ROTTEN - For me, I don’t know how much I love your 2nd demos. It’s a great stuff to listen everyday. No doubt about its! I'm not close-minded music listener. It’s contains a mix flavor between Punk and Death Metal. The firstly I put “WHEN LIFE HAS CHEASED” demo tape in my tape player, the Punk taste already smell outs. I love to much the d-beat drum your do on your songs. Don’t get me wrong about its. Do you believe Punk are the roots of Metal music?
ROD NIHILIST - hahahaha, there is no room for misinterpretation, buddy. We really like punk music, d-beat, and crust, and more, as you mentioned that this influenced our music, it happened to other bands as Discharge in the Carnage’s music, for example. At this very point you can notice the difference between the Old School Death Metal and the conventional Death metal: by the way that you can notice the influences, as an example: the Hardcore-Punk. At least we don’t have any shame about this root and we wish that it will prevail alive! As an anecdote, when our band was starting some asinine people said that we don’t play Metal, although we “play d-beat” and for this reason we “suck” and we don’t have any “value” hahahaa. But that’s ok, this was never our concern.

MIKA ROTTEN - How do you feel after Putrid Yell play together on same stage with the mighty Asphyx last years on Santiago? Any Europe death-tour been planning so far from all of you? I might think this is the correct times to pack your “bags of the dead” to goes out and play in other country and meet your fans there. Its will be good times
ROD NIHILIST - The experience of sharing stage with ASPHYX was unforgettable. When we knew them, they look really humble and took photos with us. More than this, before have started playing we invited them to watch our presentation and they do. I don’t know if they were enthusiastic about, but they were in the backstage watching our performance. A big surprise that I had was that while we were playing, I suddenly noticed Will Aggressor greeting someone in his side, and then I looked and realised that Martin Van Drunen and Stefan Huskens were utterly crazy with our song and doing headbanging… an utter surprise and as a matter of fact was difficult to me to continue playing hahahaha, but later on I continued with more enthusiasm. While I was leaving the stage there were the whole ASPHYX waiting for us to congratulate us  and flatter our presentation, because they were happy for have seeing an Old School Death Metal band from so far away. Stefan and Martin were asking us to take photos with them and also asking for Putrid Yell’s material, because according to them, they can’t leave the country without any copy of any release of our band. It was awesome.
About a tour through Europe, of course we have planned. For late 2016 or early 2017 we are aiming to be recording our debut album and with it wait for the help of all our European friends to achieve some dates through Europe and do something as a “mini-tour”, at least to promote our first album. We wait that for this very moment you there do all the possible for this travel mentioned, and this “mini-tour” become reality as everyone would like it.

MIKA ROTTEN - Beside Putrid Yell, Chile also got another killer and cool bands ever existing in underground scenes so far, EATEN ALIVE. I still remember when I got their first and second demos tape, its really make me shocked and believed that Chilean underground scene really know how to make a good death metal bands! And its look fantastic when the “VICIOUS MANIFESTATION OF HORROR AND DEATH” 7” out from Iron Bonehead prod. Whats a killer split from two killer death metal bastard ever existing. Please tell us more about this band also how this split happens?  I'm already sent a mail to this band but never got response so far.
ROD NIHILIST - I can tell you something about Eaten Alive. I think that after their presentation in the Asphyx’s concert they disbanded only for the vocalist’s disinterest to continue with the band. I don’t know if they plan to edit the album they recorded or not, it’s not my responsibility clarify this kind of stuff, but anyway, a great salute to my friends Kenny and Matias, who are who have  lived for this band! The intention of editing that split with them was due to the fact that at that very moment I had a good agreement with Enrique, and we wanted to ally with the purpose of concrete a split together. It’s a pity that with the time this good relation started disbanding. Nevertheless, I like so much the split, wether the Putrid Yell’s song or the Eaten Alive’s song.

MIKA ROTTEN - So far if we look in the previous years, do already smile what Putrid Yell already archieves? Play onstage, releasing your stuff and have your own diehard fans. This is not the end of left-hand-path journey from one of Chilean death metal rebel, Putrid Yell rite? Any news so far about the new releases from Putrid Yell?
ROD NIHILIST - I feel that the band achieved some significant things with the years, maybe recently we are feeling that we are not a new band from the masses, we have advanced and we are aiming to continue achieving goals. We were the first band of the Chilean Fifth Region (place where we live) and we are proud of it. I don’t know if we have something as fanatics for our music, but there are lots of people focused on what we will do and that go to watch us in a live performance, an eternal thank you to them, our fans, and contacts from other countries; without you this will be not possible and certainly we are willing to never interrupt the contact. Salutations to Pech (Unholy Domain),  Patrick (Iron Bonehead), Marc (Carnal Tomb), Erik (Under the Church), Stefan y Martin (Asphyx), Yusef,  Jason and David (Rude), Patrik (Gravebomb), Maso (Funest), Ricardo  (Crypts of Eternity), Bagus (Morbid Bastard Recs) and an endless ETC.

MIKA ROTTEN - We might goes to the end completes but life goes on Rod, anyway thanks for your times to reply this interview. Have a nice death!
ROD NIHILIST - Thank you for this space again, Mika. Thank you for the interest in PUTRID YELL, any query you can contact our page. I wish with the time we will be able to meet each other and share either some beers or a little weed hahaha. Continue with DISCARNAGE FANZINE until your life have extinguished! DEATH METAL VICTORY
